Renewed Hope Conditional Cash Transfer Program Begins in Abua/Odual LGA

The Renewed Hope Conditional Cash Transfer Programme has officially commenced in Abua/Odual Local Government Area as representatives of the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction arrived in the council area to distribute ATM cards to selected beneficiaries.

The initiative, which forms part of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, is designed to provide financial support to poor and vulnerable households across the country in order to ease economic hardship and improve living conditions.

Beneficiaries of the programme were selected from the National Social Register (NSR), a database of economically disadvantaged and vulnerable households compiled nationwide.

To ensure the successful implementation of the exercise, the Abua/Odual Local Government Council provided logistics and other necessary support to facilitate a smooth and hitch-free distribution process.

During the exercise, the council also sensitized beneficiaries and residents on the importance of enrolling for and revalidating their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) as the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) concludes the final phase of the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise. Residents were encouraged to take advantage of the exercise to strengthen democratic participation and ensure their voices are heard in future elections.

The council delegation at the event was led by the Chief of Staff, Hon. Kakimun M. Noah (Esq.), and included the Supervisor for Works, Hon. Abinami Ebiten Jonathan, and the Chief Security Officer, Mr. Kiikpoye Obuge.

Speaking on the programme, the Executive Chairman of Abua/Odual Local Government Area, Hon. Engr. Owolobi Michael Ofori, reiterated his administration’s commitment to supporting policies and programmes aimed at poverty reduction and improving the welfare of residents in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda.

The commencement of the programme in Abua/Odual is expected to provide much-needed relief to vulnerable households while reinforcing the government’s commitment to social welfare and economic inclusion.
